price £170
circa 1940
signed - R De Rosa, Sterling
The Ralph De Rosa Company was founded in New York in 1934. Essentially it was a family run Company but it also marketed for other Companies such as Schiaparelli. Their items were produced in limited numbers making signed pieces extremely rare today. They produced complex designs leaning towards florals, figurals, retro motifs and reproducing the fine jewellery popular at the time. The Company finally closed it's doors in 1970. Pieces, such as this, from the 1940's are the most desirable, making this a true collectors piece. The double snake type chain leads down to the attractive lattice work design, which has been set with white faux pearls and tiny clear diamantes. The sterling silver has been gold plated, although this has worn with time, and appears quite dark. The push in clasp has been covered with a small gold tone flower set with a single clear stone. Measures approx. 32cm, the centerpiece measures 5.5x1.5cm
